Lovely local eggs

Our friend Christine knows a local egg supplier who usually only has enough eggs for her normal customers, but around the holidays she has more than she can use. Guess who just got eighteen big beautiful brown eggs for $1.75/dozen? I think I have to make oatmeal cookies right this moment! Who knows what may happen if this egg entrepreneur finds our area to be more and more interested in local food sources... And thanks, Christine!

Are you allowed to tell us where this place is? $1.75 is a good deal!

I don't actually know, because Christine said the woman was normally kept busy with her usual list of customers. I'll ask Christine, though.

The egg lady is the art teacher at Bloomingdale school. She had worked me into the rotation and came in this morning with sad news that her dog got one of her layers...now she's down at least 7 eggs a week! Pity. I told her we'd be interested in all the eggs she can gather and she said in the summer she usually sells all her chickens, but might be persuaded to keep them so we could buy their eggs. She lives out 24 a bit but I said it would make a great field trip. Will keep posting any new information.

love those eggs- great pic of the hubby and his delight at the incredible edible egg! would love to join in on the venture if she decides to sell eggs.

We would love to have a regular supply of local eggs too.

We were buying them from the co-op, but the supplier they used has switched to GMO feed, so now the only option is eggs that cost over $4 a dozen!

Unfortunatly I do not know anywhere to buy organic chicken feed. So unless I raise feed (not) for my chickens they will never be considered organic eggs.
